Hello everyone reading this post. I can't believe that school is about to begin again. My summer flew by, how about yours? Before school ended last year, I was asked to move into the building from my relo and move to a new grade level. That's a couple of huge changes to happen all at once. However, I think they will be wonderful changes and I look forward to this year.
I honestly don't know if anyone reads this or not, but if you do, leave me a NICE COMMENT of how I can improve. I am the type of teacher that wants to keep improving in my life. How about you? What is something, even if it's little, that you can try to improve on today? Maybe it's saying "Hi" and smiling at someone you normally wouldn't have the courage to talk to. Whatever you want to improve, I want to encourage you to try it. Until the next post, treat others the way you want to be treated.

Hey all, I am happy that you dropped in to check out the new website. Here is some VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION that will GREATLY AFFECT YOUR CHILD'S GRADE..... I am no longer requiring 20 minutes of reading per night and a parents signature to confirm. I have decided to change things up and have the students work on three different components: a written book report, oral report and learning to be a good audience member. Each book report will be due on the last school day of the month, with a required total of 200 pages read, per month*. January's report is due the 31st. **Note-to ensure that your student is reading 200 pages a month, they may read more than one book, and record the book title, author and number of pages, on the written book report. If your student reads more than one book, they will only have to choose one book to fill out the requirements for the written and oral book report. ** Here is how the points will breakdown: Written Book Report-300 points Oral Report- 100 points Good Audience Participation- 100 points TOTAL of all 3 components-500 points. The written report is a 2-sided paper that I will provide your child, where they have to fill in the information that is asked. The oral report information will come directly from the written book report. I want the students to practice talking in front of others, because they will need to use public speaking in their educational careers and lives. It is a wonderful skill to have. As we are listening to the oral reports, I will be quickly scanning the room to make sure that students are being proper audience members. This means they are listening and paying attention. They are not talking or working on other things during the report, and they will also clap at appropriate times. As always, if you have questions for me, please email, text or call. Thank you, and happy reading! Well, here it is! I FINALLY have a new class website, where we can hopefully keep in the loop of all that is happening in and around our classroom.
The first part of the school year was fantastic, and I am looking forward to the next few months. I hope to be able to post pictures, videos and upcoming events on this website, so please check back to see any new changes. :) -Ms. A |
